As part of the Queensland Government’s reform of the electricity industry, the Minister for Energy and Water Supply directed us to investigate and report on matters relating to the uniform tariff policy and retail electricity price regulation in regional Queensland.

We provided our final advice to the Minister for Energy and Water Supply on 30 April 2014.

On 2 February 2015, we published this advice and the Queensland Government’s response.  In December 2014, the government advised that it had established a new process to consider future arrangements for maintaining the uniform tariff policy and that it would not have regard to the QCA’s advice.

We held workshops in Brisbane and regional centres to discuss this review and our draft determination of regulated retail electricity prices for 2014–15.

On 19 December 2013, we released an issues paper to commence the review, which can be accessed below. We sought submissions in response to the issues paper by 28 February 2014.

The Minister for Energy and Water Supply directed us to investigate and report on matters relating to the uniform tariff policy (UTP) and retail electricity price regulation in regional Queensland.

We provided our final advice to the Minister on 30 April 2014.
