Moranbah North Rail Realignment project

On 31 March 2026, Aurizon Network sought approval that the proposed Moranbah North Rail Realignment project not be treated as an expansion for the purposes of its access undertaking (UT5). Aurizon Network also sought confirmation of its proposed treatment of asset values associated with the project in the regulatory asset base.

On 23 April 2026, we advised Aurizon Network that we saw some merit in the proposed approach, pending confirmation of stakeholders’ views. We sought stakeholder views and no submissions were received by the due date.

On 10 June 2026, we wrote to Aurizon Network to confirm our preliminary views as our final position.
