On 24 September 2025, the Queensland Government directed us to conduct a price monitoring investigation into the monopoly business activities of Unitywater and Urban Utilities for the period 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030 (the price monitoring period).

Our investigation will be undertaken in two parts:

  • Part 1: An interim report in May 2026 — for the period 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027
  • Part 2: A draft report in December 2026, followed by a final report in April 2027 — for the period 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030

The next step in the process will be submissions from Unitywater and Urban Utilites that outline their proposed prices for 2026–27, water bill impacts on customers and details on their productivity and efficiency measures. We will publish these submissions on our website.
