Adjustment charges

Aurizon Network’s undertaking allows it to apply to the QCA to approve adjustments to access charges to recoup or refund tariff revenues if an undertaking is approved after the start of the relevant tariff period.

Adjustment charges 2023–24: GAPE and Newlands pricing DAAU

On 22 February 2024, we approved Aurizon Network’s draft amending access undertaking (the GAPE and Newlands pricing DAAU) seeking amendments including changes to the reference tariff from 1 July 2023.

On 26 March 2024, Aurizon Network submitted proposed adjustment charges to recover from access holders the difference between the amount of access charges paid against the access charges that would have been paid for that period under this approved DAAU.

We approved Aurizon Network’s application on 18 April 2024.

Adjustment charges 2022–23: Minerva and Blackwater

On 16 February 2023, we approved Aurizon Network’s draft amending access undertaking (the Minerva DAAU), which decreased the Blackwater system reference tariffs for the financial year ending 30 June 2023.

Aurizon Network submitted an adjustment application on 17 April 2023 to reimburse access holders the difference between the amount of access charges paid against the access charges that would have been paid for that period, in respect of the Minerva DAAU.

We approved Aurizon Network’s application on 25 May 2023.

Adjustment charges 2022–23: EC adjustment charges

We approved Aurizon Network’s proposed 2022–23 adjustment charges on 16 February 2023. These charges will recover from access holders, the difference between actual revenues and the revenues that would have applied under the final tariffs for 2022–23, approved under a draft amending access undertaking in November 2022.

These adjustment amounts encompass 1 July 2022 to 30 November 2022 billing periods and include interest accrued.

Adjustment charges 2020–21

We approved Aurizon Network’s proposed 2020–21 adjustment charges on 18 March 2021. These charges will recover from access holders, or return to them, the difference between actual revenues and the revenues that would have applied under the final tariffs for 2020–21, approved in December 2020.

The adjustment amounts encompass 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2020 billing periods and include interest accrued.

Adjustment charges 2019–20

We approved Aurizon Network’s proposed 2019–20 adjustment charges on 27 May 2020. These charges will recover from access holders, or return to them, the difference between actual revenues and the revenues that would have applied under the final tariffs for 2019–20, approved in February 2020.

The adjustment amounts encompass 1 July 2019 to 29 February 2020 billing periods and include interest accrued.

Adjustment charges 2018–19

On 19 September 2019, we approved Aurizon Network’s proposed 2018–19 adjustment charges. These charges will return to access holders, or recover from them, the difference between actual access charges paid and final access charges that we approve through the reference tariff variation draft amending access undertaking.
