Public involvement is a key part of the QCA's investigation process. We invite customers and other stakeholders to register to receive ongoing information about the investigation, by following the link below and choosing the option 'Water'.

After we release key documents, stakeholders will be able to comment on GAWB's cost submissions and the QCA's draft report within a fixed period. We have published a guidance note (below) to assist stakeholders with their submissions.

At this stage, we invite stakeholders to make initial written submissions by 30 September 2019, to identify issues that they think should be considered as part of this investigation.

The Queensland Government has directed the QCA to undertake a price monitoring investigation of the Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) for the period 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2025.

In undertaking the investigation, we will consider a range of matters including:

  • prices that provide GAWB with sufficient revenue to recover prudent and efficient costs
  • the accumulation of under-recovered revenues and its impact on customers.

The QCA is required to provide a draft report by 28 February 2020 and a final report by 29 May 2020.

The QCA is seeking initial stakeholder comments by 30 September 2019, the same day that GAWB's proposal is due. Stakeholders will have two more opportunities to provide comments, as set out in our guidance notice below.
