Irrigation Prices for Seqwater Water Supply Schemes: 2013-17
Seqwater provides bulk water services to urban, industrial and agricultural users in South East Queensland. Seqwater operates seven water supply schemes (WSS) providing irrigation services, six of which were transferred from SunWater on 1 July 2008.
Investigation
The Authority has been directed under Section 23 of the Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) Act 1997 to recommend irrigation prices to apply to certain Seqwater water supply schemes from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2017.
The water supply schemes are:
- Cedar Pocket Dam WSS;
- Central Brisbane River WSS;
- Central Lockyer Valley WSS;
- Logan River WSS;
- Lower Lockyer Valley WSS;
- Mary Valley WSS; and
- Warrill Valley WSS.

Seqwater’s Network Service Plans and Other Submissions
On 30 April 2012, Seqwater provided Network Service Plans (NSP) and other submissions, documenting its proposed costs and methodologies for estimating irrigation prices.
In September 2012, Seqwater provided revised NSPs and other submissions in response to further data requests by the Authority. All of these submissions are now available here.
In November 2012, Seqwater provided further revised NSPs and other submissions in response to further data requests by the Authority as well as to the Queensland Government’s recent decision relating to bulk water cost savings (relating primarily to bulk urban and industrial water, but with material implications for irrigation costs). Customer Submissions & Consultation
The Authority sought to ensure that all stakeholders had an opportunity to identify and comment on relevant issues and to review the Authority’s proposals. The Authority’s Final Report relating to its investigation of SunWater’s proposed irrigation prices may assist stakeholders in preparing submissions and is available here.
For the Seqwater Irrigation Price Review, stakeholders were invited to register their interest in participating in future local stakeholder meetings, and receiving reports related to the investigation.
First Round of Consultation
The Authority held its first round of consultation meetings in June 2012. Stakeholders were encouraged to attend and submit their initial concerns and responses to Seqwater’s Network Service Plans and related submissions.
