Coal Master Plan: 2008 Customer Vote

The Authority has pre-approved the scope of QR Network's 17 capacity expansion projects expected to be commissioned by 2012.

QR Network's 2008 access undertaking provides for the Authority to pre-approve the scope of QR Network's future capital expenditure in the central Queensland coal region if the nature of the works is detailed in QR's master planning and if at least 60 per cent of affected customers do not oppose the scope of the works.

Following a customer vote process QR Network in December 2008 sought pre-approval from the Authority for the scope of more than $700 million of capital expenditure projects expected to be commissioned by 2012.

The Authority approved QR Network's application on 23 April 2009 on the basis that QR had complied with the relevant requirements of its access undertaking.
