2006 Access Undertaking Amendments + Activities
2008 EC Variation
QR Network submitted an application to increase the Energy Charge (EC) reference tariff for coal train services in central Queensland by around 30%.
QR Network advised it had signed a new electricity supply contract, effective 1 July 2008, at a significantly increased price. As a result, QR Network required the Authority's approval to increase the EC reference tariff as an endorsed variation event as defined in cl. 5, Schedule F Part A of QR's 2006 access undertaking.
The scope of an endorsed variation event includes a significant change (more than 2.5%) in the price levied by the electricity distribution and/or retail entities.
The access undertaking provides for the Authority to approve a variation in the EC reference tariff if the endorsed variation event has occurred and the variation is consistent with the change in cost resulting from the endorsed variation event.
As the Authority was satisfied that these requirements had been met, the Authority approved the application to increase the EC tariff to $0.64/'000 electric gross tonne kilometres (egtk), with effect from 1 July 2008
