Coal Master Plan: 2006 Addendum Customer Vote

QR's 2006 access undertaking provides for the Quensland Competition Authority to pre-approve the scope of QR's future capital expenditure in the central Queensland coal region if the nature of the works is detailed in QR's master planning and if at least 60 per cent of affected customers do not oppose the scope of the works.

In September 2007, QR published an addendum to its 2006 master plan that outlined four major capacity expansion projects valued at around $334 million. Following a customer vote process, on 13 November 2007, QR sought the Authority's pre-approval for the scope of the four capacity expansion projects.

The Authority approved QR's application on 17 December 2007 on the basis that QR had complied with the relevant requirements of its access undertaking.
