2001 Distribution Review

The Queensland Competition Authority is responsible for ensuring that the prices charged to customers for services provided by the electricity distribution networks reflect the efficient costs of providing those services.

In December 1999 the Authority commenced a review into the regulatory arrangements that apply to the Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs), and to set prices that would apply from 1 July 2001. In conducting this review, the Authority considered submissions from stakeholders on a range of issues relating to the framework for the regulation of electricity distribution pricing, and also commissioned a number of independent reports on matters of concern within the regulatory arrangements.

The Final Determination (May 2001) established the prices to be charged by electricity DNSPs in Queensland from 1 July 2001 until 30 June 2005.
