Notified Electricity Prices 2009-10
Having considered the submissions received in response to the Interim Consultation Notice and following the workshops, discussion at the workshops and the reports prepared by CRA and ACIL Tasman, the Authority released its Draft Decision on the 2009-10 BRCI on 2 December 2008. The Draft Decision and the two consultant reports can be downloaded below.
In its Draft Decision, the Authority estimated that the BRCI will increase by 13.63% between 2008-09 and 2009-10.
This change was made up of an increase in energy costs of 15.8% (accounting for 50% of the total change) primarily due to rising fuel and capital costs, an increase in the transmission and distribution costs of 12.3% (accounting for 43% of the total change) reflecting ongoing significant investment in the networks and an increase in retail costs of 10.5% (accounting for the remaining 7% of the total change) and which mainly reflects the fact that the retail margin increases proportionately with the increase in all other costs.
The BRCI for 2009-10 will be finalised once stakeholders have responded to the Draft Decision and further data has been collected and reviewed.
Submissions in response to the Draft Decision closed on 22 December 2008. Submissions received can be viewed below.
