Notified Electricity Prices 2008-09
Draft Decision
The Minister for Mines and Energy delegated to the Queensland Competition Authority the responsibility to calculate the Benchmark Retail Cost Index (BRCI) to be used to adjust regulated retail electricity prices each year.
The Authority released an Interim Consultation Notice on 14 September 2007 seeking submissions from interested parties on the calculation of a Benchmark Retail Cost Index (BRCI) for 2008-09. Nine submissions were received in response.
On 31 October 2007, the Authority hosted a workshop to discuss submissions received in response to the Interim Consultation Notice. The workshop was attended by 24 representatives from 14 organisations.
The Authority engaged CRA International (CRA) to assist it in calculating the BRCI for 2008-09. The report prepared by CRA can be viewed below.
Having considered the submissions received in response to the Interim Consultation Notice, discussion at the workshop and the report prepared by CRA, the Authority released its Draft Decision on the BRCI for 2008-09 on 3 February 2008. The Draft Decision can be viewed below.
