Notified Electricity Prices 2007-08

The Queensland Competition Authority is responsible for calculating a Benchmark Retail Cost Index which is to be used to escalate regulated (notified) electricity prices annually.

Following a truncated review process, the Authority advised the Minister for Mines and Energy that the BRCI was expected to increase by 11.37 per cent between 2006-07 and 2007-08. The basis for the Authority's advice is explained in Benchmark Retail Cost Index for Electricity: 2006-07 and 2007-08 (June, 2007), which can be viewed below along with supporting documents.

The Minister accepted the Authority's advice and adjusted notified prices that applied from 1 July 2007 accordingly.
