Information Reporting
Small Customer Disconnections, Hardship and Complaints Statistics
Clause 8.5.1 of the Electricity Industry Code requires that the Queensland Competition Authority monitor and publish quarterly customer disconnection and complaints data collected from retail entities.
Retailers are required to report disconnections, hardship and complaints data to the Authority on a quarterly basis. Distributors are also required to report, on a quarterly basis, disconnections they have performed at the request of each retailer and at their own instigation.
While the Authority has endeavored to ensure that the information provided by retailers is accurate, some caution needs to be exercised when interpreting these statistics. Several reporting anomalies were corrected following a review of the 2009-10 data submitted initially by retailers and, as a consequence, data for 2009-10 is not directly comparable to that reported in previous years.
From time to time retailers advise the Authority of errors they have detected in their previous reports. When this occurs, the Authority will release revised reports covering the period affected. It is therefore advisable to check for revised reports to ensure the latest data is obtained.
