The Department of Energy and Water Supply (DEWS) conducted a review of the level of service (LOS) objectives for South East Queensland.
The review of the LOS objectives sought to:
- determine whether 375 litres per person per day was still an appropriate water allowance for water planning purposes
- reduce red tape by minimising reporting requirements for Seqwater
- promote cost-effective operation of bulk water supplies by providing flexibility to optimise existing assets and prevent over-capitalisation of existing and future infrastructure
- facilitate an adaptive management approach of the SEQ bulk water supply system.
Public consultation occurred through a public discussion paper and a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement. The consultation period has now closed and a Decision Regulatory Impact Statement has been released. More information about the review process can be found on the DNRME website.
