The second edition of the Code took effect on and from 5 January 2018. A new section 5.1.2(d) was added, which states that chapter 5 of the Code (Metering) also applies to all metering coordinators appointed for metering installations. Chapter 5 was updated accordingly to account for metering installations and metering coordinators. The changes follow the competition in metering services rule that commenced across the National Electricity Market on 1 December 2017. The rule was introduced to facilitate a market-led deployment of advanced meters. The competition in metering rule involved significant amendments to the National Electricity Rules and the National Energy Retail Rules. Version two was gazetted on 5 January 2018.
