The Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme (the solar scheme) is a Queensland Government policy administered by the Department of Energy and Water Supply. The solar scheme pays eligible customers a prescribed feed-in tariff for surplus electricity generated from small-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and exported to the Queensland electricity grid.
Customers under the solar scheme, who joined after 9 July 2012, were paid 8 cents per kWh for surplus electricity fed into the grid. The 8 cents per kWh tariff ended on 30 June 2014.
From 1 July 2014, the feed-in tariff for regional Queensland has been determined by the QCA on direction from the Minister of Energy and Water Supply.
